Was in VR-24 88- decom I was a loadmaster on the C-2 and plane captain on the T-39. Great times, Finally retired after 22 1/2 years. Now I'm fixing and flying simulators in Orlando Fla.
To many Great people in the squadron to list, but at the top will always be Jack Punches, a good friend and great man. I remember fixing Janice's washer and dryer a few times. Miss all you guys and would love to here from all.
Dave

Knew Joe Knight in '80 when I was in VR the 1st time as a ground pounder.  Last time I saw him was in 1986 or 1987, while I was on det in Rota as a C-2 LM. He was in VQ-2 working the A-3.  He was great guy, except hard on the new guys, like me.

Great site! VR-24 was my first duty station, from July 75 to July 78. I was a plane captain on the C-2. I was still a "trainee" and was on 792 when the load shifted as we launched. Good to see some names of former shipmates. When I left I was an AD2, and finished up my enlistment with VP-30 working in power plants. Have a lot of good memories of my time in the squadron. Sadden to hear about the death of LTCD Sullivan. Would like to hear from the old gang and if anyone knows the whereabouts of Steven Hooks, aka "Hooker" please tell him I would like to get in touch with him.

I have been looking for Joe Knight for a long time.  He was in VR from 77 to 80 .  He was Aircrew on the old C-1A.  Last I saw him was on the USS America in 83.  He was with the VQ det and I was with VRC-50 and the C-2A det.  Last I heard he had retired I think in 2001 as a AMCS.  He was one of the best guys I have ever known.  If anyone can tell me how to get ahold of him let me know.

I was with VR-24 from July '69 until Nov. '71. Man, that was a long time to be away from home but it was one of the greatest adventures of my life. I was in the line division. Does anybody remember the night the towbar broke and #797 crashed into the hangar and caved in the radome?

I was just in Sig a few months ago.  I just returned to the States after living in Germany for three years and would go visit about twice a year.  I was stationed there twice and have Italian and American friends there from as far back as 1974.  The base and surrounding cities have changed a lot.  If you want any info Email and I'll try to help.  I speak good Italian/Sicilian and always lived and hung out with the locals.
