I served in VR-24 from 1988 - 1991. I enjoyed every last minute of my stay in Sigonella. I showed up a crazy teenager and left there a crazy 21 year old!

A lot changed since Sigonella. I left there for PAX River, and got out of the Navy. Came back in the Navy in 2001 and have served ever since. I love the Navy and because of my friends, shipmates, and squadron mates, of VR-24 I will always have a reason to smile while I'm still serving.

Drop me a line at the e-mail, or check out myspace.

Tony (Room 120, with Simington, Gillespie, and Butch)

P.s.
I heard a few years ago that AT2 Mike Gillespie passed away while still serving in Sigonella? Is this true?

I signed in a couple of years ago but maybe some new faces are seeing this site.  I wasn't with VR-24 but was with the NAVCOMSTA and was stationed at Capo from 1970 - 1973 as a Radioman.  Lived in the old barracks next to the laundry, lived on the beach at Lago di Patria, hung out at the El Mo, Lorie Bar and Swiss Bar, and thoroughly enjoyed my 3+ years in Italy.  Would like to hear from anyone who was at Capo during my tour.

I haven't been to the site for awhile & it's good to see a few familiar names.  I was in Rota from 70 to 72, mostly in maintenance control.  We're going to do our best to make this years reunion,

Served as AT and crewman on C1-A out of Naples from 69-71. Just saw sign in on guest book from old friend, Steve Smith, but no e-mail address. I have talked to other VR-24 shipmates Ken Collins and George Hendricks in recent years by phone. Would love to hear from Steve, Ken, George and others that served in VR-24 during that time. As so many have said, it was one of the best times of my life.

I was in VR-24 from Nov. '62 through Oct. '66.  Joined the squadron from ATN school in Memphis, Tenn. and flew for several years as a flight radio operator on C-54's, C-118's and C-130's - lots of trips to beautiful downtown Naples, Italy.  Lots of great memories also from those days and would enjoy hearing from some of the folks who were in the squadron during '62 - '66.
