VR was at the Tokyo Bar ( up stairs and down), Benny's Bar & Grill ( off the high dive at the pool), Blue Star (disco with the locals), Kelly Club (more disco with the fleet & locals), White Horse for cocktails, Fleet Reserve & Feria out toward Chipeona, Aprils, roof party’s, many RBO's, T town for the weekends as well as the run of the bull in Arcos. Many good times, friends and memories. I have many slides and photos of the times......just have to find them if any one asks........Sure would like to hear from Roberto De Banko, Paul Binatto, Tom Pettyo, Doug Loman, Scooter & Dolly (We got kicked off the bowling league because of our air ball's.......remember? If you do not remember me, that's OK, I may not remember you so please jog my memory......Rota was fuzzy at times.....

I was in VR-24 at Rota from 1966 through 1968.  I flew on the C-130 and C-118 crews as radioman.  Learned the finer points of the trade from former "AL" named L.I. Kelly.  The first C-2A's came to Rota in 1968 and with them we inherited a few carrier-based types like Kenny Maher and Doggie Collier.

I saw some of the pictures from the last reunion in Rota and noticed that Pepe Perez is still around as well as Bill and Benny Ferguson.

I'd like to hear from you guys when you have time.

Best tour of duty in the world.

I served VR from 89 to 91.  I am originally from the Joplin, MO area.  I now live just south of the Minneapolis/St.Paul area.  I have only stayed in contact with Mike Manning for many years.  Been looking to cantact others for quite sometime.  Hopefully this site will help.  Anyone remember, or have contact with, Pete O'Shaunessey, Dan Ladwig, Juan "Sarge" Sargent, Stan "Ted" Sabean, WO "Bear" Quinland, LTJG Gastrite and Richard Schoenecker...  Just to name a few!   Feel free to contact me!

Good News!  If you missed the note on our Home Page, there may be another VR-24 reunion.  Sam Todd is working to set up a reunion this year, 2007, in Pensacola during the first or second week of November.  Check your calendar and budget, and plan to attend.  Should have updating information in the next few days.

Thanks to Sam Todd for his ongoing effort!

Have not sent a comment for a while.  Was in VR-24 from June of 78 to June of 81.  Flew as a C-2A Plane Captain.  Looking for Joe Knight.  He was a C-1A Crewman at the time last saw him in 83 aboard the America.  He retired in 2001 in Virginia.  If any one knows how to get ahold of him let me know.  He was a great guy.  I retired in 2000 as an ADCS.

Still testing.  Have updated the format of the guestbook page to allow entry of the guest's city and state, and homepage URL, if you have one.  This guestbook is running on a week's FREE trial basis.   I can customize the guestbook to some extent, e.g., change colors, header and footer format and add options.  Let me know what you think.  I look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks.

This is a test of the new....latest... guestbook that I am trying.  I invite comments.

I have pulled all entries off of the old "Current Guestbook" and will post them in an updated  archive.

Thanks for your patience in putting up with an unsat guest book for this long.
