City, State: Staten Island, New York Comments: I often think about my tour with VR-24 1963-1965. I was an electronics technician ATN. We had C130 and C118 aircraft. 790 793 were 2 of the C-130s and 999 one of the C-118s. My buddies Richard Digiamberdini (Digi), Harry Falasca, George Betras, Ray Schenone, Joe Maconi, had many on base and beach expierences we still talk about today. At a reunion with 5 of us after 48 years we recalled all fond memories. Where have all the years gone fellow shipmates?
City, State: Moab Utah Comments: I was with VR24 during the Mideast crisis when the squadron got a meritorious unit commendation flying out of Athens for three months supporting the sixth fleet. Then it split and we moved to Naples in 1970, we saw the 1st C 5 Galaxy land at our airfield. Lost two pilots on a cold cat shot in a C2, My roommates were the air crew got the passengers out. Lot of close friends during those times.
City, State: Baltimore, MD Comments: I saw a C-2 on an episode of NCIS and ended up here. Capodichino, 1972 to 1976, C-2 crewman and air-frames shop. Wish I could do it again.
City, State: houston until 514 then Virgin[ya!] Beach Comments: Was in 90-93: line and air frames . Where the hell did Tom Jacobsen and J.Narduzzi end up???? Great time at work . Nice time was had by all. I see Pedleys name up there but don't see anyone else I know. Hope all are doing well.
City, State: Grand Junction Co. Comments: My name is Richard M Howden and I was stationed in Rota from 1975 till the middle of 1977. I was stationed at the Tactical Support Center which was the group of trailers behind the barbed wire across from the hangers. I worked with the P-3 community. I lived off base with Michael Betz and Don Astrup ( Astro) for most of that time. We also had a guy with us from VQ-2 by the name of Carl Raatz. Anybody been in touch with Mike or Don. Have tried to find them for many years. Last I saw of the guys was Dons' wedding outside of Cleveland in the mid 80's. Now THAT was a party! I found a case of 1975 Rioja wine that did not last long enough! Still get tears in my eyes when I hear the America song "Sandman". Please e-mail me if you can! rm.howden@hotmail.com
City, State: San Diego, CA Comments: Thanks, Dick, for posting the reminder about the reunion. The hotel has extended the group rate past the original deadline, so the room rate will be the same all month. Also, the deadline for registration for the reunion needs to be October 21 so that plans can be completed for meals and the Ready Room. If someone needs to register later than Oct. 21, just contact me.
City, State: Ramona, CA Comments: A reminder too all, it's only twenty-five days until the 2013 VR-24 Reunion in San Diego. Those of you who are thinking about attending need to get moving and make reservations; and let Susan Woods know you're coming. We have great weather this time of year in Southern California. There's lots to do and see. Come on out and enjoy the party. Hope to see a bunch of you there! Dick Prather, VR-24 web manager
