City, State: Orange Beach, Al. 36561 Comments: C-1A's. Bills post was pretty good, but he left out someone who has helped where and when he could. Bill Wilemon. He has helped keep the COD flying, from working on the plane, going on line looking for tools, parts and literature. I don't have the time right now to do it, but Bill forwards his findings to me and Doc. How if I can just figure out how to get him to go to one of the air show! Thanks to Bill and others for there hard work. KEEP IT FLYING
City, State: Piedmont, Alabama Comments: I have contacted Jim Logan. We were friends and fellow C-1A crewmen in Naples, and we both rode Triumph motorcycles over there. I want to thank Dick Prather for maintaining this website and for making it possible for friends to re-unite with each other. I have wondered about Jim for years. Also, I would like to inform the community that there are only 3 airworthy C-1As in existence, to the best of my knowlege. (1) 1367781 which belongs to Duane Doyal of Santa Rosa, CA. It is scheduled to tour the 2013 airshow circuit, then be donated to the Pacific Coast Air Museum in Santa Rosa. (2) 146044 (Miss Belle) belongs to Doug Goss in Topeka, KS. After a forced landing and a long road to recovery, 044 is back on the air show circuit. (3) 136778 belongs to Captain Daniel Serrato of LaGrange, GA. It has had an active season this year, attending many aviation events thanks to the hard work and dedication of Captain Serrato, Chuck Kenyon (Crew Chief), and a lot of good help from the guys at "N.A.S. LaGrange". I commend these people for all their hard work and dedication to keep a very important part of my past alive. My tour in VR-24 was the highlight of my Navy career. And the C-1As were equally important. If anyone has anything that might help the crews keep the C-1s going (parts, publications, or anything else you think might help, I would be happy to assist you in getting it to them. William "Bill" Wilemon

City, State: Olympia Washington Comments: I stumbled on a series of You Tube Videos this afternoon. They were of an old C1A. They were filmed by William " Bill" Wilemon. The name rang a bell. Google led me to this web page. I was stationed at VR-24 for 25 months from the spring of 1975. I remember Bill along with some others. Bill rode a Triumph Motorcycle in those days if my memory serves me correctly. Bill, are you still looking for a NATOPS Flight Manual. I have one, along with a C1-A load adjuster. Contact me if you want them.

City, State: Jacksonville, FL Comments: ![]() Hey there shipmates, I don't know if anyone on here remembers me. I was attached to VR-24 Powerplants at NAS Capo for a short time in 1975. At the time I was an ADRAN. Flew C-1s.. Stayed in the barracks at Capo. Remember a couple of names: Dave Rang (C-2 crew, drove a 64 Nova), Mike Terrell (I think he was an AME or a PR, had a Piaggio scooter), Rocky Rovadatti (drove a mini), Remember an ADR3 by the name of John but can't remember the last name. I left there after I signed a Pg-13 and turned in my wings after a disagreement about the airworthyness of a C-1. LCDR Wolfe was the Maintenance Officer and AFCM Matthews was the Maint. MCPO. The plane never did go to the ship that day. Massive hydraulic leak out of the rudder assist. I got orders out of VR-24 and got to go home for the birth of my first son. Follow on orders due to the Status of Forces Agreement put me in Sigonella. I was there with OMD Sig when VR-24 moved down from Naples. Drop me a line if you remember me. My memory leaves a lot to be desired lately. :( Jim
