Still looking for Chris Husted, Dave Lower and Jack "Fletch" Fletcher. The VOD SQUAD crew circa 1980-1983. Hopefully you've Googled VOD and ended up here :) I'm living in Cyprus. I just can't get enough of the Eastern Med!

Chale Biggs: Too bad I didn't know you were in Corpus! Worked at ICE/Custom's P-3's from 2005-2007. Drop me a line and let me know how life is in the coastal bend.

Fellow Shipmates,

What is a World Famous Bradshaw Buckaroo?

First let it be known that the term "Bradshaw" was the VR-24 call sign when we went to the ships(Aircraft Carriers).  Hence Bradshaw Airlines.  A Buckaroo(Texas style) is a super nice person that knows about real life.

That leaves "World Famous"; when you leave your normal place of work(the Med) and go through the Suez Canal and go as far as the Indian Ocean, Singapore, and Perth, Australia,  then you can say I am a World Famous Bradshaw Buckaroo.

Last evening I completed the latest upload to the VR-24 web site to post Vern Christensen's collection of photos from his time in Naples. Added seventy-six new photos among a half-dozen or so pages including five new Naples pages, and one page each in the following; Ops Summary/Propwash, Accidents, and RampWatch. Also changed the TBM/COD page to add three new photos. Check out the Whats New Page to go direct to the new pages. Thanks for your support for the VR-24 web site. Dick Prather

Just found your site.  I was in VR22  NAS Norfolk, Va, Nov 1950-Sept 1953 (AK3).
I was a crew member TBM's and hoped to get in VR-24.  Instead I got orders for the USS Des Moines CA134 (AK2).  I got a Med cruise, I missed the Air Planes.

Hello,

I am calling out to anyone that may have known my father, LCDR James Edgar Sullivan.  I'm not sure what time frame he was in VR-24 or what planes he had flown there.  The old man never really said much about what he did in his 23 years in.  I served as a Corpsman with 1st MARDIV in Ramadi, Iraq in 05-06.  My dad died a year after I returned. I've always been interested in his past but never pryed too much and now have no way of knowing about him.

Thanks,

Matt

Gentlemen: Anyone out there that was at Pt Lyautey in Feb/Mar 58???
We had to send several planes to Pt Lyautey to support VAH-9 (USS Saratoga) whilee they did some maintenance on their planes.
I heard those guys gave the Station a great send off when they left.
  Any comments or pictures???
