City, State: Lemoore, CA Comments: I was a C2 Plane Captain from 74-78. I already contacted some folks from that time period and I would still like to contact Jody Renai, Bob Hughes, and Rocky Rovedatti. If anyone knows how to contact these guys, please let me know. I welcome any contact from anyone who still remembers me.
City, State: Dayton,Ohio Comments: I was stationed at Sig Oct 79 to Mar 82. I have done some research on the decommissioned aircraft stationed at Sig for that period. As well as the aircraft that did not make it home to the USA. Here is some info that I have recovered. The Aircraft lost in Nov 1983 are 136753 and the USS Kennedy's on board C1a. This info was complied by using a web research of what aircraft that were photographed after that date and a book by George C. Wilson ("Super Carrier"), in which the mishap is mentioned on page 109. Along with this I have an aerial Photo of the two aircraft taken just the day before the mishap. The remainder of the C1a's were returned to the USA with some of them being sold to private owners. One has been restored and one crashed in Indiana but is going to be repaired. The C2a's all when to mothball for parts. The T39a's two came home and were sold with new tail numbers. 159363 came home with out wings. At the time I did my research I did not have any of the H53 buno's so I could not located them. I know two left to replace the ones lost in Iran. I have located photos off the web of some of the aircraft. If you are interested in any of the info I have Email me and I'll send you the info.
City, State: Alexandria, VA Comments: I was a classmate of Mike Veringa. I would like to sign in and express my condolences to those who served with him in VR-24 when he died in 1983 (I read that you lost two aircraft and both crews that day).
Mike had to do a little adjusting going from "civilian" to "middie" during his first year of school, but I couldn’t think of a better man to be a naval officer four years later. We got to be friends and I always liked the Big Guy.
I went into submarines and then moved to the DC area in 1984. I caught up with one of our former instructors who updated me on Mike's death. We shared some stories about him and were glad that Mike got a chance to pursue his dream to fly.
PS I updated Mike’s info on a Navy related website, which can only be accessed by members (http://navy.togetherweserved.com). I provided the following info: graduation/commissioning in 1979, pre-flight (

City, State: Ramona, CA Comments: For those who may have wondered, we survived the California wildfire that burned through parts of Ramona last week. The flame path passed within a quarter-mile of my house but in this case, at least, "A miss was as good as a mile." Evacuated last Sunday night (10/21/07), along with most other Ramonans. Returned yesterday (Saturday). Found lots of smoke/soot and ash and minor wind damage, and no potable water, but home otherwise ok. I regret to say, I will not make the Pensacola reunion this year; too many other commitments of time and resources. I have high hopes for making the next one, and look forward to hearing from those who attend. Best wishes for a resounding success! Dick
City, State: Lorain, Ohio Comments: Looking for old shipomates from VR-24. Served from March '52 until Oct. "53 as an AM3 in Maintenance. Or perhaps some of you guys that were transfered to London at Blackbush and particuraly those with the rented house in Golder's Green in London.
City, State: Mayflower AR Comments: I really wish I could go to the reunion, as I know that it will be a blast, but unfortunately I can't this year. For all of you going, please have a little extra fun for me, have a blast and most of all, have a very safe trip and reunion. Am beginning planning (and saving) so that I can go next year. Meanwhile, would love to hear from any of you, regardless of when you were with VR-24, so please feel free to email me. VR-24 Sig 1981-1983

City, State: Enfield, CT Comments: Run for the Run for the Wall
Question??? Do you have any plans for next May????
RFTW XX dates May 14 to May 25, 2008
The 20th Run for the Wall, (RFTW) is planned for May14 – 25th 2008, from LA to DC, with voluntary participation in Rolling Thunder XXI.
We would like to plan a “Run for the Run for the Wall”. A group of us, Navy Vets will depart New England on or about May 1st, 2008 along the northern route for Northern CA. Then turn south down the coast to LA.
We plan a slow easy ride across country picking up riders along the way to participate in the run and RFTW. We would plan to arrive in LA on about May 11th to permit servicing of the Bikes and rest before RFTW.
The preliminary route would be across I-80, (weather permitting), with stops and interesting diversions along the way, ending up in Northern CA, to link up with riders from the Northwest, WA, OR, ID, AK, etc.
We plan to stop & visit with folks and divert to any places of interest along the way, hopefully picking up brother vets to ride along, either for a while or “all the way”.
Anyone interested in riding along is welcome, 2-3 or 4 wheelers.
Thanks – For more info on RFTW, please see

City, State: Roswell, GA Homepage URL: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=247095674 Comments: I was in VR-24 as an AME from 83-87. Had an awesome time and worked with a bunch of great shipmates. I enjoyed all the travel, esp Souda Bay Crete "El Mundo's... I don't think anyone can forget that place...lol...
City, State: Boulder, Colorado Comments: Yo Guys (and Ladies)! this is a last chance plea to attend the 07 VR-24 and VR-24 DET Pensacola Reunion especially you shipmates that flew & crewed the TF1 & C1A COD flights. We need pilots, Plane Captains, and the mechanical and technical rated & non-rated guys (we didn't have gals in my days except for LT Barbara Kelly in Personnel) that helped to keep us in the air and enabled us to return from those missions to the aircraft carriers & other air fields. We need those from the medical, paymaster, mail , cooks, etc. areas that enabled us to keep going from day-to-day. We told a few war stories last year a few more during subsequent emails and tele chats but, we need the subjects to come in person. The CIA carrier ops personnel have been overpowered by the VR-24 4 engine shipmates from Port Lyautey and Rota. Come for 1 day, 2 day or whatever; come from the Napoli & Sigonellia days, make no difference. I'm sure you will have a wonderful time. In most cases there never was a barrier between EM & officers, except where a few protocols were required .
