City, State: Las Vegas, NV Homepage URL: http://www.linkedin.com/in/ask4andy Comments: What a great website! Wonderful memories, and like CDR Murphy, I was there to the end...I was the narrator for the decommissioning program. I'll definitely check for photos and other good stuff to add to the scrap book!
City, State: omaha, ne Comments: Omaha would be an excellent place for a reunion in 2012. I would love to help out. My last" job" for the Navy was planning public affairs. Loved it almost as much as VR.
City, State: Topeka, Kansas Comments: I was stationed at Capo from 1970 to 1973. Was a radioman in the comm shack. Not part of VR-24 but knew some of you. While the pics from back then bring back some fond memories, I've often thought it would be great if some current pics were on the website. NSA has moved up to Capo and, I fear, the old base bears little resemblance to how it looked when we were all stationed there. Anybody been back recently?
City, State: Port Orange, Florida Comments: I last submitted a post 8-22-2002. I'm just checking back to let anyone who remembers me to drop a line. I was stationed at Rota from 1978 - 1980. I just finished working in Spain for a year and a half. I spent many weekends down in Puerto and realized how much I miss Spain. Good times!!!
City, State: Pebble Beach, CA Comments: I arrived at Port Lyautey in March, 1950 as an AE3. Left for Hendon in December 1950 as an AE2. Left Vr-24 in April 1952 as an AE1. I there is any of the folks who were there from 1959 to 1952 still around, I would sure like to hear from you. John Vinson, CDR, USN (retired).
City, State: Tucson, Az. Comments: Check back here every now and again and see some names my old mind still remembers. I was an AD2 and T39 aircrewman 76-79. Awesome tour of duty. Captain Sperling was the best CO I ever had. I retired in 93. Say howdy on my email anytime. Take care all! Ray Mathis ADCS RET
City, State: Rockford, Illinois Comments: Found this site a few months ago. Was in the squadron to the end.
The personnel in VR-24 were second to no one any where. They never let the Navy, squadron or themselves down. They all should know their consistent great performance led to a lot of consternation in the decision to decommission the squadron. At the time the Navy simply ran out of logistic airplanes.
City, State: Piedmont, Alabama Comments: Glad to see you on the VR-24 Website, Tom. I remember you. I was a C-1 crewman in Naples from 72-75. Wish we could all get together in person or communicat on the web. It seems that a lot of the VR-24 people we knew can only tolerate "small doses" of VR-24 memories though. It was probably the highlight of my life and I like to remember it all.
