I was stationed at Sigonella from 1974-1976 and at VR-24 from 1981-1983.  I have been back to visit a few times and I'm going again next week for a visit.  There have been a lot of changes over the years, I'll stop by the base to see what's new.

This is a wonderful website. I was a C-2 pilot in VR-24 from Jan.'87-Jan '89.  Wonderful duty. I remember it, and the folks I served with, with great fondness.   I probably wasn't the best Branch Officer or Division Officer, but I had a great time.  Thank goodness for the CPO's and PO's who kept me out of trouble.  The plane captains and load masters were awesome and kept us flying.  I wish I could rewind the clock and do it again.

I would like to get a copy of the "In the Break" portrait of the C2-A breaking over the USS America.
Can you help a former C2A Plane Captain that also serve on the America.
Come Mo.

Thanks

I'm sure many of you who served in Naples in the mid 60's would like to join me in showing our respect for some of our fine mates who have recently flown west:
Cdr. Chip Redding, Ted Krick, Mike Hanson, Bill Hilton's wife Hellen, Dan Dennis, Wayne Dockweiller.
I feel honored to have known them.

I haven't posted in a long time, so I thought I'd give an update. My mother, Marie Hatfield, wife of deceased LCDR "Porky" Hatfield, passed away in the fall of 2007. She was 84. My father, "Porky", was a pilot in VR-24 from spring 1958 until summer 1960. He passed away in 1979. I read of Virginia Speed's passing and it struck me that there probably aren't many of that generation left. Danny Speed and I were contemporaries and played ball in Port Lyautey. Hello danny, please accept my condolences for your mother. Jim may not remember me, since he was older, but I remember him.
