I went to VR-24 in Lyautey in May of 63, from the USS Antietam, and left Rota in April of 65. Worked on the flightline and at the av/gas pool in Rota. I drove the big, dark 1957 Jaguar and coached the Rota mets Little league team.
I'm still looking for Robert Rogers, Jack Eubanks, John Ezell or anyone else who may remember me and those beautiful days of youth while serving our country in "that man's Navy".

1982 to 1986 AE3 when I left. These were the best times of my life. I cant remember too many names but I do remember the crash of the C1's. Its haunted me ever since. Me and my crew worked so hard on those aircraft keeping the old dogs in good shape. I was always curious what happened. Being enlisted, I didnt hear much. Does anyone have any information on what happened?
I was lucky enough to spend time in Sudo Bay, Rota and catch rides on the medi-vac to all kinds of places in Europe. I consider myself very lucky to have served with VR-24. I wish it never ended...

Bruce Thompson, Pete Berna, Mike Roth, all great Air crewmen I had the privilege of working with. I was a C-2 PC from 1985-1988. Anybody heard from Bob Hughes, Pable Penaloza? I am still with the Airlines. Made a few trips back to Sig with C-9/C-40 Reserves and was in our old hangar. Felt strange to see it so dead. Sig was a great time and I would go back there any time for good. Amazing when we were there we count down the days to leave and now miss it. Best 3 years of my Navy life!!!!

Hey Richard "Whitey" Whitfield....certainly do remember when the tow bar broke on C-130 797.....I was in the cockpit.  It was night time and cold....If my memory serves me right, Tom Trimmer was there too.

Hi everyone,
Stationed in Sig. from Apr.83-Apr.87. I do miss the good times there and also in Rota. Mike Roth told of this site which I talk to occasionally. I currently work with the Post Office as a mail processing mechanic, which always keeps you moving. My job takes me out to Oklahoma City, for training on various equipment for weeks at a time, where I found out that Paul Ernisse settled after retirement. Pictures on this site are great and I plan on sending some in the future. Like to hear from everyone.
