I was stationed in Sig from Aug 82-Aug 86 and again
from March 90-93 decom. It was a experience I'll never forget.
The timeless hours we worked, just to meet our mission..........
Who can remember Crookie and Hainey ? or Mary Bailey , Art Dakin, Russel Montoya, Mike Roth, Dan Nearing, just to name a few, or Master Chief Almond who committed everyone to see the skipper about one thing or another.....Joe Zanders, Joe Garcia...
Yeah, those were the Days. Expresso's doubled or tripled just to keep us wired up. How about those Pannini's ?
I still have the base newspaper about the two C-1's that crashed, what a Thanksgiving that was...
Well, I hope everyone's doing well, after I left Sig I came back to Norfolk, Va. and Retired by the following year. Worked as a dog cleaning tables for 4 yrs. then worked for Ford Motor Co. for 9.7 yrs. now work for a Propane Energy Co. as a mechanic.
What a trip,          Horvfrankjr@Peoplepc.com if anyone wants to contact me.....

Hi Everyone.  I was stationed at VR-24 from 4/84 to 3/87.  I recognize some of the names.  It has been a long time.  I was just informed of this website today.  Sorry I missed the reunion.  How often do we have them?  Would love to chat with some old friends.

Arrived at VR-24 Naples in June 1974 (ADR-3 C1A aircrew) and moved with the squadron to Sig.  Lots of great times with shipmates during my 3-year tour.  Who could ever forget the dets to Athens, Souda, Rota, Malta, Nice and Scotland for the Northern det.  And let’s not forget those visits to the ship; especially at Christmas time (weight & balance?#%).  If it would fit…we delivered it. Departed Sigonella in June 1977 for NAS Alameda.
