City, State: Ramona, CA Comments: Both Stoney Compton and I received spam messages today that appear to have been sent using the email addresses posted on this Guestbook. I apologize for any annoyance to anyone else receiving such spam messages. The Guestbook settings currently allow the "public" (including spammers) to send emails to those posting on the guestbook. I can prevent that (for everyone), but the option is not very attractive. It would stop ANYONE/EVERYONE from sending emails to those who post entries to the Guestbook. The obvious disadvantages here is that would severely limit the utility of the Guestbook for contacting old friends. There is another option that I was unaware of until today. That option allows the recipient of spam (as a result of having posted an entry on the Guestbook) to mark his/her individual email address Private. This NOT the option you see below the box into which you write your Guestbook entry. Rather, it is a link at the very bottom of all emails you receive from people using your Guestbook entry. Clicking on that link makes you email unusable to anyone trying to send you an email from the Guestbook. There may be other options to control spam that I am yet unaware of, and I will talk to my Guestbook provider about that. I would like to hear from anyone who feels strongly about the way the Guestbook is currently setup, i.e., to allow the "public" to send emails to those who post entries. Thanks for your patience, and your continued support for the VR-24 website and Guestbook. Dick Prather editor/manager

City, State: Málaga, Spain Comments: This message is for Jose C.H.M, about R5D "Ciudad de Madrid" accident in Jerez del Marquesado. Casually or not, I´m investigating this accident in the way to publish a book about Sierra Nevada aircrafts accidents. I would appreciate to contact with you please, cause I´m very interested in to locate photos of the accident. I don´t know if you have contact with Jerez´s people. I have a lot of news (Ideal, ABC), about this accident if you are interested. I live in Málaga too, so It would be nice to meet with you. Saludos Michel
City, State: Stanwood, WA Comments: Just wanted to let everyone know that so far 54 people (that includes spouses) who have signed up for the VR-24 Association Reunion in San Diego in September. August 15th was the cut-off date for early registration and it will will now cost an extra $10 to sign up (total: $35.00). The turn out for the zoo trip was so low they canceled it. The dinner cruise and banquet will be well attended. There will be a lady DJ for the banquet rather than a band (one of the major reasons attendance costs are so low). There is still time to sign up for golf. I hope to see all of you there. Stoney Compton Reunion Chairman
City, State: Centralia, WA Comments: I was stationed at VR-24 from 1981 to 1984. My name at that time was AK2 Julie Maker. I only have contact with one person from that era - AKC (now) Kathy Allen. I am interested in hearing from people that may remember me. Due to an incident that happened after returning stateside, I have problems remembering fine details. Can usually remember when someone starts talking specifics. I remember an Airman Goudy (unfortunately it is not fond memories) but anyone else in Supply is kind of fuzzy. Please feel free to contact me at your earliest convenience.
City, State: Crofton, MD Comments: Hi, I was in VR-24 from April 86- April 88, my very first orders. I worked in Ops as the Comm Yoeman, in topside. I arrived as an E-2 undesignated airman who decided to strike for RM while there and ended up in RM A school when I left. I got out in '90 after one enlistment, went to school and never looked back. Though I still have close (retired) Navy friends, I enjoyed living vicariously through their sea stories while I remained a civilian. Does anyone keep in touch w/ MC Medley? Some of my best friends are Cindy Velez and Shauna McPhail (Shauna if you're around send email). Cindy and I still are in touch. This website is fabulous.
